Length  Lessons will last either 30 minutes or 1 hour.  This will be decided by the student.  30-minute lessons are recommended for younger students and 1-hour lessons are recommended for students who are more advanced.

Location Students have the option to either travel to the home studio in Rye Brook, NY, or have the teacher travel to their home.  Samantha is able to travel to teach within Manhattan, Westchester County, and Fairfield County.

Curriculum  All students will gain a strong foundation in music theory and ear training along with performance technique.  The goal is not to limit students' experience to only reading notes off a page.  When a student understands what they are playing, they develop a richer sound on the instrument and a deeper connection to the music.  Students will be placed into one of four tracks: BeginnerClassical, Jazz, or Pop/Rock.

Beginner is for students who have little to no experience playing the piano.  They will learn how to read music, learn basic rhythms, and play songs tailored to their level.  Exercises involving clapping, singing, and foot-tapping will be used to assist students in understanding basic elements of music and piano-playing.

Classical is for students who have at least 3 years of experience playing the piano.  This track is for students who want to develop strong piano technique and dive into the classical repertoire.  These lessons will include sight reading and building repertoire along with ear training and theory.

Jazz is for students who have at least 3 years of experience playing the piano.  This track is for students who want to learn how to improvise and play jazz standards.  Students will learn how to play a 12-Bar Blues, Rhythm Changes, and essential songs of the jazz idiom.  There will be a strong emphasis on swing rhythm, scales and modes, and learning to trust what you hear while improvising.

Pop/Rock is for students who have at least 3 years of experience playing the piano.  Lessons will focus on learning songs by ear, learning chord progressions, and writing bass lines.  Students will learn the role of the piano in pop and rock bands, and reference classic examples.

Composition Composition is a key skill for all musicians and is strongly encouraged in lessons.  Original pieces and exercises will also be  composed for students to outline specific musical concepts.
