Samantha Langstein is a New York-based jazz pianist and educator. She was a participant in the 2018 Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program where she performed three concerts at the Kennedy Center's Millenium Stage in Washington D.C. Inspired at a young age by the venerable pianist JoAnne Brackeen, Samantha elected to attend Berklee College of Music where she earned a B.M. in 2014. While at Berklee, she was accepted to the Global Studies program in Valencia, Spain where she resided for a life-changing three semesters. Samantha performed frequently at Jimmy Glass Jazz Club and absorbed the rich harmonic and rhythmic elements of Flamenco music.
In the fall of 2015, Samantha continued her musical journey as a graduate student at the highly selective Manhattan School of Music. The program emphasized the value of teaching and giving back to the community, and Samantha had the opportunity to design and present an introductory jazz course to a 5th Grade class and teach a group piano class to underprivileged students. It was then that she made a commitment to teaching as well as performing and composing. Since earning an M.M. in 2017, Samantha continues to perform actively and teaches private piano classes.
